Narrative and Sequence

Pop-up narrative for the 1905 children's novel 'A Little Princess' by Francis Hodgson Burnett.

Sara Crewe, born to a wealthy soldier in India is brought to London in Victoria-era England for a formal education; she is forced to tolerate haughty, disdainful headmistress, Miss Minchin. Her father becomes bankrupt and is said to be dead. Due to the circumstances Sara becomes a servant at the school but is still as imaginative as ever. She finds her father still alive but he does not recognise her due to a head injury and memory loss from the war. Sara's father makes a recovery and the family fortune is recovered.
Sara tells the other girls at school stories - tales from her imagination and stories she was told herself when she lived in India, including the story of Rama and Sita.

William Morris Wallpaper

I researched Victorian-era wallpaper and décor so that I could gain an understanding of what the interior was like, and portray this in my narrative. The Victorian wallpaper reminded me of William Morris. I love the floral patterns and vintage feel.
